Many Indonesians have come to Thailand and marry, a document called an Affirmation of Freedom to Marry should be obtained from the Indonesian Embassy. It is required by Thai law to have this document issued by your embassy, stating that you are single and free to get married in Thailand. Requirements in applying for the affirmation may seem simple for other foreign embassies in Thailand, but for the Indonesian Embassy you will be required to submit a set of documents from the Indonesian marrying party before issuance of the document.

Once the letter of affirmation has been obtained from the Indonesian embassy, the next step in the marriage registration process in Thailand would be the translation of all the documents to Thai and legalizing everything at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
